Katrina has had a great deal of success in getting her athletes results by taking a holistic approach to training, and NOT doing what everyone else is doing. By combining evidence from the most recent and credible strength and conditioning research with her own experience as a strength and conditioning coach for the past eight years, she is able to create an efficient, customized and highly effective training plan for her clients. To her, it is not about what is new or ‘popular’, it is about what is appropriate, safe and effective for the athlete.

Katrina considers herself a life-long learner and has made continuing education a priority in her life. She is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State Univeristy – University Park, and holds a Masters in Economics and a Masters of Science in Health and Fitness Management. She is also continuously attending various strength and conditioning seminars and seeks out training opportunities so that she is always providing the most effective and current training practices to her athletes.

She believes that 'cookie-cutter' strength and conditioning programs are shortening the careers of athletes.  By not individualizing a training program to an athlete, not only will they never reach their highest level of performance, but they are more prone to injury.  And injury is the main reason why our athletic careers are cut short.  It is the philosophy of True Fitness that you should decide when to leave/retire/change sports - not the fact that your body is too beaten to continue.

Katrina’s love for sports and athletics began at an early age when she first watched the cartoon television show, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” She began training in Karate at age 5 and received her first black belt by the age of 10. She has since studied various styles of martial arts such as Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do, Aikido, Kenpo, Krav Maga, Silat, Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi and No-Gi) and Muay Thai Kickboxing. She is an avid athlete with her passion being Rugby, playing Second Row, Flanker and Outside Center. She played Rugby at the college level for Penn State University and at the club level for the Norfolk Storm. Following her playing years in Rugby, she was an assistant coach to the Fort Hunt Gators Girl’s Rugby Team in Alexandria, Virginia. Her foundational fitness experience stems from her previous 5 years of military service.
